SNOW IN APRIL??

This morning, it was snowing, that's right, snowing. They were calling for up to six inches, but the ground temp was too warm, so by now (afternoon), all of it has melted to give way to the bright green, typical of Eastern Shore April. It was a great photo-op though. Above pictures by Emily and Charish Campbell.

HORSE LOVER'S UNITED

So far in the past month, I have done Training Evaluations on two horses for Horse Lover's. Miss Judy C, and Charmer, both of whom belong to Horse Lover's United, a Standardbred Rescue out of Salisbury, MD. ( www.horseloversunited.com ). Both of these horses were an absolute pleasure to work with, and both are in need of permanent loving families to call their own. Either can be adopted for $400, and I will consult for either maintenance or training on either, no charge - via phone or e-mail.

I have also worked on Victor and Albert, both bay stb g., and have seen a lovely new 4 yo gelding. All of these horses are ride-able, though all of them will require some steady handling for awhile until they settle into their new "jobs" as riding horses. All of theses horses drive, as well, and being off-the-track, they have truly seen it all. Thank you to Kat Kaufmann for so generously lending us her time and experience in help evaluating Charmer.

LUCKY STAR

Lucky Star is still here- still available.  Best offer above $2,500/best home. I simply have no time for her myself. There is no reason that someone couldn't show her Tr. Level this season, probably will go as high as second, but she needs to be in regular work. Doug Gillisan from VMC in Easton has worked with Lucky Star from day one, and she has so far flexed well all around, and CBC shows a return to near normal CPK levels, indicating that likely no permanent damage was done when her CPK's peaked at 750-ish back in late January, when she came here. The mare is sound, sane and solid. WB/TB, approx. 17 yo. Qualified GAIG at Tr. Level in 2005 under YR. She has supposedly evented also, I will jump her when I have time, and the weather cooperates.

HANDS ON WORK

Congratulations to Josh Green for winning the Horse Lover's United Raffle - FOUR HANDS-ON SESSIONS for a horse of his choosing. I understand that Josh is a standardbred trainer with a large barn, and am anxious to finally get an opportunity to work on a racehorse who is being timed regularly - I'll keep ya'll posted!
